Dr. Yannis Kolokotronis was born in Athens, in 1962.
He is Professor of Art History at the Democritus University of Thrace (dept. of Architectural Engineering).
He has supervised a number of exhibitions in Greece, Cyprus, Germany, Sweden and France. Since 1986, his articles have been published in art magazines (Contemporanea, Tefchos, Art News, Nemesis e.t.c), in the daily press in art catalogues and in collaborative edition of Melissa, Adam, Ekdotiki Athinon and Archetypo publishing houses.
He is the author of Τériade, Essays on Art (1990), Alekos Fassianos the Painter the Engraver (1991), Still-Life Painting in Greek Art (1992), Art in Transition (2000), New Greek Art (2007).
He was Director of the Pierides Museum of Contemporary Art (1987-96) and General Secretary of Greek Department of the International Association of Art Critics (AICA).
He collaborated with National Geographic Magazine (1997-98). He organized the Cyclades Pinacotheque (Old Customs House, Syros island, 1994).
He was participant in USIS program (1992) and Fulbright Scholar (1996).
